costa rica, tarrazu

Costa Rica Tarrazu is a bright and satisfyingly balanced coffee. It typifies the SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) characteristics that we look for in a Costa Rican coffee. The local Coop is largely responsible for the flavor profile because of their high standards of processing and quality assurance. The surrounding farms' high altitude, volcanic soil, and shade-grown trees also contribute to the cup.

Origin Notes
Situated in the heart of Central America, Costa Rica boasts a thriving coffee industry. Arabica coffee is the only coffee type grown in Costa Rica by law, and Costa Rica is the only Central American country to pass such a law. The microclimates of Costa Rica are well known for their high-grown, hard bean, and superior flavor profiles. Its fertile volcanic soil, shady conditions, and an altitude of more than 1500 meters above sea level all contribute to this bright and well-balanced cup. Coffees that are SHB are the highest-grade standard for Costa Rican coffees.
We roast this coffee to a Full City roast. Any darker, and we'd miss out on the unique harmony of sweet chocolate, snappy acidity, and elegant body that Costa Rica Tazzaru has to offer.
Cupping Notes
Bright acidity, displaying the fresh snap, which is highly desirable in a Costa Rican coffee. Long and sweet aftertaste, with a lingering cocoa note. Elegant body.
